Wind Potential Measurements

wind potential measurement by anemometers in our meteorological tower

Our Laboratory of Renewable Energy is accredited to EN ISO / IEC 17025:2017 by the National Accreditation System (E.SY.D., certificate number 547) for carrying out wind potential measurements, which are essential for the selection of the wind turbine type to be installed and the prediction of the wind energy yield.

The wind potential measurement includes:

  • Installation and maintenance of the equipment
  • Measurement campaign
  • Analysis of measurements
  • Compilation of interim and final reports, according to international standards

The outcome of a well-designed measurement campaign of a wind project, should include information related to spatial and height distribution of the wind over the project area. Our team of experts proposes the appropriate measurement campaign so that all requirements in relation to the development of a wind farm are fulfilled.

Equipment - Meteorological Masts
Our company is providing our clients with all the necessary equipment for wind potential measurements. The meteorological masts (tubular or lattice) are installed and maintained by our team of certified experts/climbers.

Data Analysis - MultiWind Software (International Wind Engineering®)
The analysis and the presentation of the results is achieved by our MultiWind Software, developed in-house, which allows parallel processing and analysis of many wind stations. It also allows its users to draw conclusions on the spatial configuration of the wind and topographic or microclimatic effects. In addition, the incorporated MCP (Measure-Correlate-Predict) tool in the software, in combination with long wind measurements campaigns reserved by the Laboratory, allow the quantification of the long-term effect of the wind distribution on the expected energy production of a wind farm.
