POWER CURVE MEASUREMENTS

Understanding wind turbine performance is crucial for investors and operators. At International Wind Engineering, we conduct power curve measurements to verify the actual energy output of wind turbines, ensuring they meet performance expectations and warranty guarantees.
We follow the IEC 61400-12-1 Standard and adhere to the MEASNET Power Performance Procedure, ensuring internationally recognized accuracy and reliability in our measurements.
What is a Power Curve Measurement?
A power curve measurement establishes the relationship between a wind turbine’s electrical power output and the wind speed at its location. This assessment helps:
✔ Verify the theoretical or warranty power curve provided by the manufacturer.
✔ Identify underperformance or inefficiencies in turbine operation.
✔ Optimize turbine settings and wind farm performance for increased energy yield.
Site Calibration for Complex Terrain
In complex topographies, a site calibration is conducted before turbine installation to determine the wind velocity transfer function between the reference mast and the turbine location. This step ensures accurate power curve measurements by accounting for terrain-induced wind variations.
Measurement Campaign Duration
The standard duration for a power performance measurement campaign, including site calibration and power curve assessment, is approximately three months.
By leveraging our expertise and internationally recognized methodologies, we help investors evaluate wind turbine performance with confidence, ensuring optimal energy production and return on investment.
